My Zane had his 28th birthday party last year. Oh how grateful I am that Zane was born 28 years ago. He is the greatest blessing in my life and I love him with all my heart and soul! I had planned a surprise birthday party for him, which worked...until two minutes before the party started. Hahahaha, if you want the long version of the story, ask me! Kirsten, Reagan, Haley, Reece, and the Malzl's came. We ate delicious food, enjoyed great company, and watched Kirsten's ultrasound video! A great time was had by all. Happy birthday Zane!! Grizzlies with the Parkins!

We went to see the Grizzlies hockey team at the E Center in Salt Lake City with our friends the Parkins (and some of their relatives). It was so much fun! I felt like I (Nany) understood what was going on MUCH better than the first time Zane and I went.

Chile earthquake fundraiser at BYU

My friend Pablo Penailillo put together a fundraiser at BYU for the victims of the Chile earthquake. He asked me if I would like to participate in it by singing. I felt SO privileged to do so! Although I wasn't sure if I could to a good job with my nausea, I was excited to do it. I think I sang a couple of "boleros" from a Luis Miguel songbook. I LOVE TO SING THOSE SONGS!!!

Earthquake in Chile - February 2010

At 3:30 A.M. on February 27th, 2010 a magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck southern Chile. It was devastating. I (Nany) grew up used to earthquakes, but this one was something else; far worse than anything I had ever felt. My parents and siblings were in Chile, I was in Utah this time. Fortunately, they were safe. It was beautiful to watch the humanity, love, and compassion of people who helped in any way they could.

It has become, inadvertently, a Hanzon family tradition to go on a local hike during Martin Luther King Day holiday. This time, we went to the Little Dell Reservoir up Emigration Canyon. It was a GORGEOUS day. We were only able to take a couple of shots, since the battery in our camera died! Oh how I love dates with Zane Hanzon!!!

Emily Milne got married

Zane's beautiful cousin Emily got married on January of 2010. Her and Stephen make a beautiful couple! I remember that we had a great time...and that I was very pregnant sick that day...but it was SO fun to see all of Zane's extended family! I love those Milne girls!!

I was nervous about the 3D glasses, because I was pretty pregnant sick at the time, so I was afraid I could not watch the movie at the theater without interruptions...or disasters...However, I did it! And I did OK. WE LOVED the movie! It was such a fun date with my hubby!

Zane is the best husband I could have asked or hoped for. He is SO thoughtful and considerate. I remember back in January of 2010 when I had a hard day at work and was feeling REALLY pregnant-sick, he came home with a beautiful gerbera plant, crackers, kisses, and a card. It COMPLETELY made my night. I am SO grateful to my husband for all the little things that he does for me. They are huge to me. They mean SO much to me.

Zoo Lights at Hogle Zoo!!!

Reece and Haley invited us to the Hogle Zoo to look at the beautiful Zoo Lights at night. They had discounted tickets! They came from Provo with a friend of theirs and her little kid. With Zane, it was our first time at the Zoo. We had such a fun time.... And I got a little too "camera happy" with the animals!

What a fun time we had in Denver that Christmas! Even though Zane got a little sick by the end of it, and I was "pregnant" sick most of the time (with some unusual and scary bleeding - so sorry for tmi), we had a wonderful time! We ate wonderfully, went snowshoeing, enjoyed some great company and great conversation, and were grateful for the birth of our Lord!

So it turns out that I (Nany) was offered a promotion at work. I was interviewed and was offered a position in the Church Budget Office. This was totally unexpected, but welcome. This implied a move to a different division within my Department (Finance and Records). I was excited for the change, although I was sad to leave my co-workers and bosses behind. I turned out to be a great opportunity though! I was given lots of new responsibilities and cool stuff to do. And the raise in pay wasn't too bad either!

So it turns out that 6 weeks after I had my emergency surgery, we got pregnant!! OH HOW EXCITED we were!! We seriously could not describe how happy, thrilled, and nervous we were! It was like a dream come true!

Wicked was OH SO WICKED

We went to Broomfield CO, in October 2009 to surprise Boyd, my father-in-law, for his birthday.... And since Wicked was playing in downtown Denver, Zane and I got tickets for the show. Oh my goodness, how I loved it! I even wore my green high-heels for the occasion. The pictures are in my in-laws camera, so maybe someday I will post those. You can tell that we went to BYU, live in Utah, and are LDS, just by the amount of weddings we seem to attend every year. In the summer/fall of 2009, three of Zane's good friends (and mine by adoption) got hitched! Billy got married to the fantastic Jana, Luke got hitched to the great Kat , and Johnny B. married cute Christine. They all had lovely sealings/receptions, and we were so grateful to be a part of their special days. We were so happy to see them happily married! Here are some pictures!

Ectopic pregnancy - Summer/Fall 2009

Here is the story of our 1st pregnancy:

Oh how happy we were when we found out that we were pregnant!! We were so thrilled that we immediately called our parents and siblings. These were exciting times! I had never been so happy to pee on a stick! (...had I ever peed on a stick before?). However, a few days later I started bleeding - not a good sign. We made a Dr. appointment and to my sadness, she thought that I was having a miscarriage, but asked me to call her if I started feeling any pain (which I hadn't). That same night, I got a little bit of pain and went to bed at 9pm after taking an extra strength Tylenol. At 2am I woke up with unbearable pain on my left side. We called the Dr. and she sent us to the ER. LONG STORY SHORT. No one knew for a fact what was going on (because I was "pregnant" all they could do was an ultrasound and blood/urine tests. They thought I had a miscarriage and a cyst on my left tube, but at this point, they think an ectopic pregnancy is a possibility. Ectopic means "out of place" which in this case, it is a pregnancy that develops outside of the womb - uterus - in other words, it is a pregnancy that is non viable, the fetus will eventually die, and so will the mother if left untreated. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later. I am back at the ER with horrible pain for an entire night with mild pain medications, more ultrasounds, and more exams. They sent me to an OBG-YN. He checked my HCG levels every other day to see if they were doubling - which is a sign of a healthy and normal pregnancy, and they were not. In fact, after a few days they were decreasing. In the meantime, my pains come and go, and I am bracing for the worst. Although the Dr. thought it was a miscarriage, he could not rule out an ectopic pregnancy, so he had me get a shot of Methatrexate. This is a drug that is is used in cancer patients that kills all growing cells in your body. I have to admit I felt horrible doing this. Although I knew an ectopic pregnancy was NOT a viable pregnancy and I could die if I didn't do anything, I felt so sad about the whole ordeal. Zane was such a HUGE support for me. He is an amazing husband.
We got the shot and I headed home. I was told I could have pain within the next days. Two days later I was at work (Thursday before October Conference), when all of a sudden I got an unbearable pain on my side. I could not walk or even stand. I called Zane and asked him to come get me. I threw up on some flower beds after coming down the elevator (I know, gross!). Then I threw up again. LONG STORY SHORT. I had yet another ultrasound. Another Dr. came to see it and decided that I had a large ectopic pregnancy and that he had to perform emergency surgery. I had NEVER had ANY surgery before. I was freaking out! I had no clue if I was allergic to any anesthetic or if the surgery would be a success. The Dr. told me that he would try to save my left fallopian tube, but that the ectopic pregnancy looked so large that he doubted he could do so. He said the pain I was feeling was from the "blood and debris" falling off into my abdomen. Oh boy that was painful, let me tell you! As I am signing away my life and as I am being told what would happen during surgery, I turned to Zane and told him: "Zane, you can remarry!" Hahaha I honestly had NO CLUE whether it was "my time" or not! He just looked at me, and said: You will be just fine, I promise. I have to say that his words gave me a great deal of confidence. 2 hours later I was coming out of surgery, when I woke up I felt like I hadn't slept in 1,000 years! And I felt funny, in fact I was told I said some very funny things, and I couldn't stop laughing. What I can remember is asking the doctor: do I still have 2 tubes or did you have to take one?? And he said: I'm sorry, the ectopic pregnancy was so large and the tube was so damaged that I had to remove it, but you still have 1 tube!

Recovery went fine. Zane was by my side all the time and he was an immense emotional, spiritual, and physical support (oh boy how my man can handle puke and other gross stuff....). I love him and I am eternally grateful for him. I was also grateful for the assertive Dr. that we got the last time at the ER, and for all the medical care I received. That weekend was an amazing spiritual Conference weekend. A friend's mom spoke in General Conference and I almost felt like she was talking to me! I was so blessed with so many phone calls, cards, emails, meals, and visits from family and friends. Although Sunday night after the October Conference I had a little breakdown (thinking will this happen again, and stuff like that..), I felt so close to God, and knew that He would help me get through it.

We were told that we could start trying to conceive again in 6 weeks....so guess what happened 6 weeks later...

Hanzon (and Fails) girls night out

My wonderful mother-in-law invited us Hanzon (and Fails) girls to a girls night out. She took us to the delicious steak house Madeline for dinner, and then to see the play Hello Dolly at the Hale Theatre. She even made a purse/bag for each one of us that she brought from Colorado! I love my mother-in-law!

24 of July weekend

We spent the 24th of July with my aunts family in Mapleton. Zane ran the Aloha Run 5K that my uncle and aunt put together as a fundraiser for BYU-Hawaii international students. After that, I sang and played the piano as part of the show. It was a blast! We had to light up some fireworks, so we did at Christoph and Laly's place.

During that weekend we also went to Mona Lake where Christoph taught Zane how to windsurf. Zane picked it up pretty quickly, but said that it was no easy task!

On a side note, that was the weekend we found out that we were pregnant, but it turned out to be an ectopic - tubal - pregnancy.

Jackson Hole!

What a great time we had in Jackson Hole over the 4th of July weekend in 2009. Zane's parents invited all the kids to go camping to the place where they met...many years ago. I fell in love with it the moment we arrived. Jackson is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!

We kayaked, canoed, hiked, shopped, watch the 4th of July fireworks and watched a show, ate a ton, took lots of pictures, and just had a blast! Zane, Luke, and Reagan almost DIED swimming on a freezing lake to get to a little island. They did awesome though...but I was very glad when they made it back!

We would LOVE to go back again!

So I am still posting about stuff from 2009...I am sooo behind!

I wonder if I will ever catch up. Zane even asks me...are we married yet in our blog? Since this last post we've both gotten promotions at work, attended more weddings, blessings, birthday parties, and baptisms, gone on fun trips, attended fun Broadway plays, had an ectopic pregnancy and surgery, then a real pregnancy (with kidney stones twice), bought another house with a swimming pool, and had the most beautiful baby girl ever. We have been blessed.

Maybe it will be a new years resolution to catch up AND stay caught up with our blog. In the meantime, have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a wonderful NEW YEAR. May the Lord bless you all.

Bye bye Covey Apartments! It was actually a bittersweet farewell. Yes, the apartment in the Covey was just one big studio, yes, it had a micro refrigerator, yes, we were on the 6th floor and the elevator (the oldest in SLC) would not work 50% of the time, yes, our bathroom sink fell out of the wall. However, it was the first place we lived in as a married couple, the view was incredible, it was cheap, the ward was incredible, we made some everlasting friendships, we both walked to work, the temple, and the gateway, and we just loved it!

We will never forget the memories we built in our little Covey apartment :)

HELLO AVENUES!!! We bought a duplex in the Avenues! Our idea was to find something that would serve us as a home and an investment property, and we found the perfect house in the Avenues! Thanks Holly for finding it for us! And THANK YOU everyone that helped us move! We could NOT have done it without all your help!!!

I think he did a pretty good job (and I think he thought so too, hahaha). This was the last activity we spent in our ward, since we...bought a duplex in the Avenues!

We spent our 1st wedding anniversary at the Zermatt Resort in Midway. What a beautiful and fun place! Before we got there, we drove by Chatham Towne, which is where I lived when Zane and I met one Sunday night in October of 2006. We could not believe that a year had gone by since we got married. I feel SO incredibly happy and blessed to have Zane in my life. They say time flies when you are having fun!

Sergio's visit to the US!

My friend Sergio from Chile came to the US in March and stayed with us (in our extended studio at the Covey...thanks Sergio for being such a good sport! Haha!). We went to General Conference with him, miniature golfing, and to Las Vegas! (his favorite place, especially the aquarium, right Sergio? Haha). We had a great time with him!

So this was my very 1st time skiing for reals. Zane's parents took all the kids for a skiing trip to Brian Head. We stayed with Zane's grandparents in Cedar City. I love his grandparents!!!

My goal was to be able to "try" to ski in the bunny hill and not die. After just a few minutes there, my mentors (Zane, Boyd, and Luke...and also Kirsten and Reagan) sent me to the REAL DEAL!!! I guess they thought I was ready!! Or maybe they were REALLY bored, hahaha! (I think it was definitely the latter!) But guess what... I WAS SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!! I actually didn't to so bad! It's a good think I had such low expectations of myself! There was one run when I actually did not fall. At all. I almost felt like a pro.

My Zaneito was so patient with me! I'm sure he wanted to ski the really hard stuff, being the great skier that he is, but he helped me instead :) What a good husband I have!

So the main reason why we went to Chile in February of 2009 was to celebrate our wedding with all our relatives and friends that could not make it to our SLC or Colorado receptions (Nany's side). It was SO much fun to be able to see everyone!!! So many people helped make this happen! We are SO grateful to everyone that made it possible - from my mom, to my family, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, members in our ward, etc, etc. It was just absolutely wonderful. The food was great, so was the music, and the company was superb! We had a little program in which Zane and I told our engagement story and how we met, I sang a song to Zane accompanied by my dad, my aunt Brenda and my dad sang a song, and my tio Rene played some solos in his guitar. We ate, danced, visited with friends and family, and took pictures!!! Definitely an unforgettable night!

So while we were down in Chile, the "Festival de la Cancion de Vina del Mar" was being held, and my favorite band of all times was scheduled to perform. I couldn't believe it!! I was SOO excited! My whole family and I went. We were lucky to get tickets in "la galucha" hahaha. We had so much fun! :)

We went to my beautiful Chile to have our Chilean wedding reception so we could celebrate with all of my family, relatives, and friends. The night before we left for Chile we had a mini Nany birthday celebration in which we went to Tucano's to eat some Brazilian (SO good!) and I got my nails done and had a pedicure (also to be ready for the reception!). We were SO excited to fly to Chile we couldn't wait!

Our 1st Married Valentine's Day!

Great memories!!! While we were still living in the Covey apartments we celebrated our 1st Married Valentine's Day. I think it fell on a Saturday and our ward had a Valentine's Day party. Since I was in the activities committee in the ward, we helped plan and MC the event. It was a lot of fun! Too bad we didn't take pictures! Zane surprised me with beautiful flowers, balloons, and a gorgeous necklace. I gave him tickets to the Grizzlies! It was my very 1st hockey game. Zane had to (and still has to) explain to me all the rules! We had a wonderful time, although the Grizzlies lost to the team from Bakerfield.

Happy birthday Mattias!

Mattias' b-day is only 4 days after Zane's. We went to Mapleton to celebrate his birthday with him. It's amazing to see how much this little boy has grown!!! I can't believe I once changed his diapers!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ZANE!!!!!

Zane was such a lucky boy!!! He got 2 surprise b-day parties and one amazing birthday day date with his hot wife!

The first one was at Reece and Haley's house. Haley was so cute!!! She made all these decorations for Zane's birthday! And of course, we could not have celebrated Zane's birthday (and Super Bowl weekend) without Kirsten's football treats!!! The second one was at the apartment of our friends the Cox's. Zane thought I would be visiting teaching, so as "my companion could not come" I asked him to walk me over to their home. Then it was "surprise" with some of our friends from our ward.

The day of his birthday Nany took Zane to Texas Roadhouse where he had some amazing ribs!! We had plan to go bowling after dinner...but we were exhausted, so we left it for another day :)

Zane was so lucky to get the Superman movie, Starburst candy... and ...the Nintendo WII!!! We actuall both love it, haha...but it could sure get more use than it does!! Feel free to stop by to play any time!

Wow, lots happened in 2009!!! It was a fun and eventful year in which Zane and I grew together, laughed together (and at each other), and overall it was a year of blessings and trials. Here is a little bit of what 2009 was :)

Draper Temple Open House!!

Zane and I had the opportunity to attend the open house for the Draper temple along with the Fails and the Provo Hanzons. We were able to enjoy the beautiful spirit that was present, the gorgeous art inside the temple, a fun bus trip, and some delicious gyros at a Greek Restaurant. We love temples, families, and...... food!! :)

2009 was a year of weddings for us. Many of our dear friends tied the knot during that year. We felt honored to be part of their special day!

I felt privileged when Jessy asked me to do her hair and makeup for her bridals and for her wedding day :) We had so much fun! She was a gorgeous bride

Christmas 2008: Our 1st Christmas Married!

We were so happy to spend our very first Christmas as a married couple! It really was unforgettable! We purchased our 1st Christmas tree, our first Christmas ornaments, we sent our first Christmas cards....we had lots of 1sts! The big question when it came to our Christmas tree was...colored or clear lights? Even though we both preferred the clear ones, we decided that we wanted to have a colorful Christmas, since we will probably have clear lights in the future. After getting our little apartment all set up, we headed to Colorado for some Colorado Christmas with the Hanzon family! Here are some highlights!

A Shout Out To My Wonderful Husband!!

So I have been trying to get our blog "up to date" for a while now. There has been so much going on and there are just so many pictures, (and they are currently in 3 different computers, plus we got a Mac Mini, so we are trying to figure that one out!) that I have not done the work as fast as I would want, but I promise that it will get done...sometime? :) So I will not wait until I update it to write this today.

I just wanted to say about how grateful I am for my husband. He is just incredible. He really is WAY more than what I bargained for. First of all, I am just in AWE of his spirit of service. I could write for hours about the incredible way in which he fulfills his callings, the way he cares about his friends and family, etc. But I will be selfish and write about his service to me.

For a couple of days last week I did not feel well at all. I suffer from migraines, and when I do I become paralyzed, my day is "over" unless I take a very strong pill that I have avoided to take lately. Zane has been so caring and understanding with me when I get them, he usually will turn the lights off in the house, he will get me an ice pack for my head, he will tuck me in bed and bring me food, he will try not to make noises and so on...you get the idea. But last week I was just out. We had to do many things before our trip to Vegas (for Jimmy and Dawn's wedding), and I just couldn't do anything. I don't think I cooked anything, I did not clean at all, and basically just vegged in bed after work. As Zane came home, he cleaned, cooked, did dishes, did laundry, gave me kisses and took care of me. He kept asking me about how I felt and if I needed anything. On one particular day I slept for a long time, then when I woke up in the middle of the night, I realized that our apartment looked spotless and everything was taken care of. Really. Everything. I was so impressed and grateful!! The next morning Zane told me to look at our coffee table (which I hadn't noticed), and there was a little gerber daisies flower plant that looked like sunflowers. Sunflowers are my favorite flowers. He had gone to the store while I was asleep to surprise me when I'd wake up. And he said that he hoped that they would make me feel better. That just made my heart melt!!!

I mean, Zane will bring me flowers, clean everything, and surprise me like that, but this time I felt like I was going to explode in gratitude and love for him. Zane and I try to split the work around the house as much as we can (although I really think he is better at it than I am.... I get too distracted...), but he really is such a great help ALWAYS, he is SO service oriented it amazes me.... I need to learn from him!!

I just wanted to put into words the feelings of gratitude and love I have felt for him. Thank you Zane for serving me, taking care of me, and loving me, especially when I needed it the most. What a guy! I am so lucky I am married to him! :) Zane, I love you so much!!! Thank you for everything you do for me!!

Hanzon Autumness Part 4 Savior of the World!!!

What an unforgettable, fulfilling, spiritual, amazing experience was to be part of the cast of Savior of the World last Fall/Winter. For those of you who do not know anything about Savior of the World, (quoted from lds.org): "Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection was written by a council of seven Church members (Mormons) who consecrated their time and talents under the direction of the Church's presiding leaders. As a sacred musical drama depicting events surrounding the Savior's life, the production is foremost a testimony of Christ and His divine mission as the Savior and Redeemer of the world." I was so happy to be able to sing, dance, and act in such a marvelous production about Jesus Christ as one of Mary's cousins. Zane was SUCH a HUGE support in every way. I learned SO much, and met wonderful, talented, and spiritually strong people!!! I highly recommend everyone to go this year and take a friend. We had friends and family come, and it was a delight to enjoy it with them. Tickets can be found at lds.org after September/October.

Hanzon Autumness Part 3 The Making of the Gingerbread Houses

This was the first time ever that I, Nany, made a gingerbread house. I had no idea how much fun this would be! If you have never done it, I highly recommend it for this year! (by the way, I just noticed that there is a spell check in this thing...this will make things a lot easier!). However, you do need the initial help of the experts a.k.a. Fails, Provo Hanzons, and J&D.

We went to the Fails home for the Gingerbread House party along with Jimmy and his then girlfriend, Dawn, who stayed with us for a weekend, (now they are engaged in case you were wondering :) It was fun to visit with J & D and to go the MoTab Fall Concert with them. They make a very cute couple!
Kirsten did an amazing job at baking the house parts (which again, I had no idea you could do, since I had only seen kits at the grocery stores). I was SO impressed by Zane's craftsmanship! He really did an incredible job with our shingles, and I was assured that if we are every in need of a Wheat Thins roof, they will be top notch!

To be completely honest, I cannot remember who we gave the 1st place to...Kirsten and Haley remind me!!! Or....you could just judge for yourself! Behold our finished product:

Hanzon Autumness Part 2 Rach's farewell

Wow, it's been a while since we have updated our blog! To our faithful readers I extend my sincere apologies ;) A lot of fun stuff has happenned since last fall and we are very excited to share it with you!!!

Rach's farewell :(

My friend and visiting teaching companion Rachael Sims moved back to Florida with her husband, as her husband finished his internship with the church. We were very sad to see her leave but very happy that she would get to have her baby girl surrounded by family and friends.
With other wives from the ward we had a little get together with cake and gifts to wish her a happy trip.

The Malzl's Visit! Oh...and our sink fell out of the wall...

The Malzl's came to visit us!!! It was a lot of fun to visit with Laly, Christoph, Mattias, Melanie, Kiana and Danielito. For those of you who don't know, Laly is my dad's youngest sister, Christoph is her husband from Austria whom she met while she was going to school at BYU-Hawaii and M, M, K and D are their kids.

I cooked pastel de papa for them, (in my efforts to impress them since Laly is such a great cook), chatted, and then went to Memorial Grove park.

So about ten minutes before they arrived Zane was wipping off the sink in the bathroom as I was in the kitchen when I heard this LOUD LOUD noise, as if a building collapsed inside our apartment or something....I ran at full speed to the bathroom and saw Zane standing, speechless, with a shocked look on his face. Our bathroom sink was completely on the floor...broken. It just fell out of our wall. Well, we do live in a place that was built in like 1904 or something, but to have your sink fall out of your wall is quite the experience. Poor Zane was so traumatized by the event that the very first thing he said the next morning as he woke up was: Nany, our sink fell out of the wall.

More Independence Day Celebrations!

Okay, so it wasn't meant to be an Independence Day celebration, but our ward had a "Back to School activity" and Zane and I performed the "Cueca" which is Chile's national dance. We both found whatever we could and dressed up as huasos. Zane learned how to dance la Cueca a few hours before the performance. He did an EXCELLENT job! No esta mal para un gringuito ;)

18 DE SEPTIEMBRE, VIVA CHILE!!!!!! (Chile's Independence Day)

Zane and I were so excited to celebrate our 1st Sept. 18th together. We went to a nearby Chilean Deli and had completos, empanadas, and Churrasco Palta. Even though it wasn't as good as the stuff my grandma used to make, the spirit of Independence was there. We both had fun and enjoyed the food. I am so proud of being a Chilean!! :)

Random happenings Part IV - Haley's and Reece's Open House in Colorado

We drove up to Colorado on Labor Day Weekend for Haley's and Reece's Open House. It was SO fun!! Haley looked SO good, and her hair looked beautiful!!! (Not that I helped...). Haley, I just loved your dress! Oh Reece, you looked great too! ;) There were lots of guests, really good food, beautiful flowers, INCREDIBLE home made raspberry sherbet (thanks Thais!), conversation with former high school teachers, friends and family, and....awesome presents for the new Hanzon fam!!

After the Open House we HAD to play a game of CRUD, yes CRUD. Zane will later explain what this game...I am sorry this sport is all about! Reagan was our LEADER, and Emily and Don joined us (we love them!! ), and so did Michelle, Luke's friend who served a mission in CHILE!! She did a great job as a greeny in the game of CRUD.

On Sunday afternoon Zane and I went for our "Sunday walk." talked about deep doctrine, McConkie versus Talmage, saw a beautiful rainbow, eagles, birds, but NO PRAIRIE DOGS! I was heartbroken. I love prairie dogs, but it had rained, so they were probably in their underground caverns getting warm.

We just had a GREAT time in colorful Colorado :)

We went up to Mapleton to celebrate our beloved MELANIE!'s birthday!! She is 11 now! I can't believe it! I CHANGED HER DIAPERS!!! She is a cutie and we love her! Oh by the way, she is my cousin :) Her crazy (and ADORABLE) little sister Kiana had to make an appearance in one of the pictures. Of course, because she is a riot and the life of the party (hija de tigresa???). We love those kids!

Random happenings Part II - Lucky Charms and others...

One Saturday evening we had the Fails (Zane's sis Kirsten and her hubby Reagan) over for a Chilean Feast. This feast included a Chilean style prepared meal: Pastel de papas, ensalada a la chilena, porotitos verdes, juguitos naturales, duraznitos y peras con crema y otros. After the feast we played the Chilean game: "Al corre el anillo" which we used to play with my family for Family Home Evening in Chile. Every time someone gets the answer wrong he or she must put down a "prenda" or any personal item down. In order to retrieve this item, one must execute a "fine" performance...of any kind!

Zane and Nany did the "Lucky Charms" song. Kirsten did her "facial trick" -and we didn't get any pictures! Inconceivable!! And Reagan delighted us with.....a lovely trick!

My Zaneito graduated from BYU!!! He walked and received his diploma in August. His proud wife clapped, smiled, and took lots of pictures. That same day and literally minutes before we went into the Marriott Center, he got a phone call from JP Morgan Chase with a job offer! We were really happy and felt very blessed. I can no longer claim to be the sole bread-winner for our family anymore...but I can live with that ;)

We went up for s'mores with Luke, the Fails, and the other Hanzons up Big Cottonwood Canyon a couple of Sundays ago. We had an "interesting" political conversation, bear stories, etc. I (Nany) realized how weird I am for preferring burnt marshmellows over "golden crisp" ones. Those are good too, but I enjoy the taste of ashes in my mouth :) (will that make me cancer-prone??).

Thais (on the phone): However long they say they will take...mmm.. times it by 2!

Nany: Thank you! I will keep that in mind...

Zane (sending text messages to my email): Mmmm, this is taking us waaaay longer than we thought... but I will be home soon!

Zane finally comes back at 8pm. I'm home! I am so tired and sore!

They all had a great time and they were safe. Zane looked like a raw-sore-sunburnt-pollito (little chicken...in a cute way)! And I was really grateful for Thais' counsel because otherwise I would have panicked :)

A Jimmy Weekend!

Jimmy came to town and stayed with us for a weekend. He had the special privilege of staying in our Murphy bed! (Our bed that comes out of the wall and that was first inaugurated by my cousin Ally/Alejandra).

Zane and Jimmy played basketball at the church, we all went to "This is the Place," and we hiked up Ensign Peak. After that we got 25 cent lemonade from some little girls in the neighborhood, and then we went to see the Joseph Smith movie in the JSMB (Joseph Smith Memorial Bldg.) We all had a blast!!!

After our adventure on the 24th in Mapleton we headed up to LA for Reece and Haley's wedding. It was such a gorgeous day (and a crazy weekend!). We were so excited to see them so happy! The sealing ceremony was beautiful, the tacos for lunch AMAZING, and the reception was delightful! My favorite part was the "berries buffet" :) We are so happy for them!!! (And we hoped they liked the soccer ball shaped ice cream maker).

Oh... and by the way, I could not resist taking pictures of the "SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD AND STREETS" :D

24th of July!!!

We had a blast in Mapleton with the Malzl's for the 24th of July!!! We ran a 5K with Laly and Deyse, had a Chilean style asado (barbecue), watched the Mapleton parade, which included Kiana and Danielito Malzl, and even got a free plant!!

Zane won his age group and received a gold medal! Good job Zane! Nany....finished the race! Good job Nany! ;)

More 4th of July FUN!

So after our fun day backpacking in American Fork Canyon we began brainstorming about our possible activities to celebrate the 4th. We soon realized that this weekend would be perfect to do what we had wanted to do for a long time: Go to Las Vegas!
Zane called Jimmy and a few calls later we were unpacking from our backpacking trip, showering....and packing again for Vegas!! (I felt kind of bad for my "neglected" bathroom, but that has been taken care of since;) ).
There we visited JIMMY in his new house! That is a picture of Zane and Jimmy in front of Jimmy's house. It is such a nice place! Nice job Jimmy! That night we went with some of Jimmy's friends to watch the fireworks and visit. It was a lot of fun! Except for I could hardly stay awake because of the trip, how hot Vegas was, it was way past my bedtime (I work at 6:30am)...and probably because the night before I "stayed alert" all night in case a bear would come close. It was still a lot of fun!
The next day we went to Jimmy's parents house and enjoyed a relaxed morning at the pool where I got a tan, read Harry Potter, and "got wet" (since I didn't really swim). Zane and Jimmy played with the basketball in the pool while they talked about life, MBAs and Banking. After that we went to Walmart and got "the stuff" for our next adventure...something I had never done before. For the first time ever I went....SHOOTING! Parents, I am sorry to dissapoint you, I have used a weapon now since the last time you saw me :)

It was hot, loud, and FUN!

That night Jimmy kindly offered to us discounted tickets to go to the movies, so we went to see HANCOCK. If you ask Zane he will tell you that "it was alright," if you ask me, I will tell you that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I thought it was a GREAT show!!

After that we went to the Strip and contemplated the beauty of the Fountains at the Bellagio and walked around. What a full day we had! :)

The next day we had a most pleasant surprise. We asked Jimmy if there was a ward at 9am since his started at 1pm. So off we went to the "9 o'clock ward"...except for it was a small Spanish Branch! Oh we were SO excited! It was the 1st time that we went to a meeting in Spanish together!! We both shared our testimonies and were so impressed by the Spirit and the friendliness of the people. We wanted to stay there forever! We got to talk to many members from Peru, Argentina....and Chile!! A Chilean investigator who was there with his wife from.... El Salvador? We stayed with them for Gospel Principles. We were really grateful for this tender mercy of the Lord :)

Our fun fun 4th of July! Happy b-day USA!

This was our 1st 4th of July as a Hanzon family. Of course, we had to go out into the wilderness and try out our new tent and sleeping bags!!! Realizing we did not have a stove, we headed to good ol' Walmart to get some summer sausage, crackers, cheese, and Powerade (which btw was 60 cents...not bad). After almost eating half of our crackers in the car, we arrived at American Fork Canyon.

We started walking in a trail (because we wanted to go backpacking, not car camping) and didn't really know where we would end up...we just "walked by faith".... So as I was heading our adventure, I realized after a couple of minutes that I was getting no response from Zane, and I was pretty much talking to myself. I looked back and far, far away there was Zane Hanzon trying to make his GPS watch work! I have to admit that it was very useful later on :)

After almost 1 mile (which seemed more like 5 as it was getting dark), we found a good flat area and we (more like..Zane) began setting our tent!!! It was so exciting! Of course, we had a BEAR BAG, since I am still terrified and afraid of bears (they eat people).

April 26, 2008 An unforgettable day!!!

Que dia mas especial!!! We could not be happier! We felt so grateful to our family and our friends for ALL the help, time, talents, assistance, love, money, encouragement, etc, etc, etc..that they gave us...no podriamos haberlo hecho sin ellos!!! We were just thrilled to make covenants with the Lord and each other in the temple.

The day started really early for Zane and Nany. I (Nany) had an appointment with the "hair and makeup lady" (a girl in my ward that works for Lancome), and Zane had an appointment with the "hair" lady to get his hair cut (his mom!) EARLY in the morning ( so I thought that by having a 2pm sealing I was going to be able to sleep in...mmm....wrong!). Then it was time to get everything ready and head up for the luncheon with the family-and a few close friends-at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown SLC. After surviving an almost head on collision with the TRAX, my roommate Patrice and I made it to the luncheon a few minutes after we had expected to arrive (does that surprise you? Really?) and greeted our guests that were already there...I wonder if Zane wondered where I was......

We had a WONDERFUL time!! The food was excellent and the company better. We had some really yummy food: Clam chowder and tomato soups, salads, fruit salads, raspberry lemonade and dessert!!! We got to express our gratitude and even sang a musical number for everybody! Families can be together forever in Spanish and English! It was to cry for! We finished our chessecakes and lemon pie cakes and were ready for the most important event in the Zane and Nany history: the sealing for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple......AHHH!!!

We arrived at the temple....EARLY, and Zane and I were able to spend some time by ourselves before the sealing as everybody waited in the room. There is where I told Zane: This is your last chance. You can still ran out the door! But right after I said this our sealer arrived and gave us counsel, so I guess it was too late for Zane...

What a wonderful sealing and sealer we had! It was such an honor to share this moment with loved ones. Our sealer said some really profound, neat, and valuable words to us, and counsel we will never forget (I better write it down...). We really appreciated him very much :) It was such a special and sacred time for us. We were soooo happy :)

After the sealing Zane and I exchanged rings with our moms. I mean, we exchanged rings with each other, not with our moms, but our moms were there, and we were ready for picture time!

So picture time started!! It was FREEZING outside, but everybody was such a good sport and smiled de oreja a oreja para las fotitos :) Gracias. We took some really good shots with everybody (that will be posted shortly) and then everybody left so we were left...alone... to take pictures :) After this we headed to our reception in Provo. WE WERE ALREADY MARRIED! IT WAS SO CRAZY! If you want to hear the counsel that my incredibly funny Bishop gave us, let me know and I will tell you privately. It would be too scandalous to post it here.

So off we went to Provo to the Yarro's home where we held our reception. It was actually really fun to have people stare at us and wave, smile, honk, and give us the thumbs up!!

Ralph Yarro was a member of the bishopric in Zane's old ward and his boss at CP80. They are such a wonderful, generous family!! Jackie (Ralph's wife) offered to make flower arrangements for the tables with silver cups that she had. They turned out to be gorgeous!!

So at the reception we greeted, we danced, we ate, we took pictures, we laughed, we sang, we cut the cake...or should I say Zane cut the cake, and then Nany cut it, and then they pretended to cut it together for the pictures, we watched the performers, we threw the bouquet and the garder..... and we left with bubbles!!! Okay so we made a fake farewell because we didn't want everybody gone by the time we were actually going to leave, so we "left" with bubbles and then came back and said our goodbyes. We especially wanted to say goodbye to my family because they were going back to Chile (unfortunately we could not take them to our honeymoon, I insisted but we had only reserved a room for 2), and we left! What a great day!

We are just really grateful to EVERYBODY for ALL the help we received with dresses, flowers, linens, clothing, arrangements, musical numbers, just carrying stuff, buying stuff last minute, etc, etc, etc. TO YOU THAT HELPED AND ARE READING THIS: THANK YOU. GRACIAS. GRAZIE. Okay, I hit my language limit :) We love you!! And we just celebrated our 2nd month anniversary yesterday...WE'VE MADE IT SO FAR!!! :)

The New Hanzon Family

Well, here we are. This is the first official blog and our first official post as the Hanzon family. WAHOO!!! We have now been married for almost two months and absolutely LOVE IT!!!! I don't think that either of us could have imagined that it would be this good. We have already had more than our fair share of laughs and must have reorganized our little apartment a million times. We have made countless trips to Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and REI in an attempt to return wedding gifts, secure much needed popcorn poppers and plungers, and oogle over potential gifts that never were (this mostly describes Zane in REI and the $400+ items that he insisted on registering for just in case). Anyway, our goal is to post regular updates and pictures of our amazingly incredible experiences and adventures. We also hope to, in the next week or so, give you guys a bit of a summary of our experiences in these first couple months of marriage.

Now to close on a more serious note, I (Zane) just want to give you all a idea of my feelings about being married. To have someone that you care so deeply about, to know that they love you exactly for who you are, to feel as though you will never be lonely again, and to know that this love lasts into the eternities is what I feel is possibly the best description of wedded bliss. Nany continues to tell me that we are still in the "honeymoon" stage of our marriage, but if that is the case, then I look forward to the wonderful experience of an eternal honeymoon. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for the incredible blessing it is to be married to such an incredible woman. She is my inspiration, my confidant, and my best friend (not to mention that she is ridiculously beautiful). Anyway, sorry for the mushy stuff. I hope you are all doing GREAT, and we will get you updated soon!!!
